Straits of Mackinac

Straits of Mackinac

The Straits of Mackinac, a major shipping lane in the Great Lakes, is a narrow channel that connects Lake Huron and Lake Michigan. The channel passes between several islands including Mackinac Island, Round Island, and Bois Blanc Island, and underneath the Mackinac Bridge. The Straits are the boundary waters between the northern most point on the Lower Peninsula, and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.
